The GP Patient Survey Results 2024

 

The GP Patient Survey is designed to give patients the opportunity to feed back about their experiences of their GP practice. The survey asks about your experiences of your local GP practice and other local NHS services and includes questions about your general health. The survey includes questions about a range of topics, such as how easy or difficult it is to contact your practice, the quality of care received from healthcare professionals, and experience of NHS services when your GP practice is closed. The survey also includes questions assessing experiences of NHS dental and pharmacy services. 

The answers that are received help the NHS to improve local health services for people like you and your family. It is important to hear about your experiences even if you haven’t visited your GP practice in a long time, or if you have filled in a questionnaire before.

At VMG we welcome the findings of this snapshot survey which helps us to understand our patients’ experience of using or interacting with our services. Throughout the year we use a variety of methods to hear about peoples’ experiences and we know access to our services is an area patients have concerns over. We know there’s more improvements to be made and we will continue to take on feedback and review our processes. 

Some successes that we are able to celebrate include:  

  • Since January when this survey was taken, we have held 83,666 appointments.  

  • Since January when this survey was taken, we have received 96 five-star reviews on NHS Reviews. 

  • Since January when this survey was taken, we brought 14 new staff into our team.  

  • The successful implementation of Anima at the end of last year. 70% of patients have now registered for an account so they can request appointments 08:00-17:00, Mon-Fri. 

  • We have just added a new functionality to our phone lines, allowing patients to check or cancel an appointment without having to wait for a call handler to become available.
